DAPPER DIALOGUE Peggy Olson and Betty Draper
MEMORABLE MAD MEN QUOTES, ZINGERS & ONE-LINERS

  • "It's become apparent that you are excellent at making the clients feel their needs are being met, but Mr. Cosgrove has the rare gift of making them feel as if they haven't any needs." - Lane Pryce, to Pete Campbell

  • Peggy's roommate: "There's nothing around but married ones. I mean, we can't all throw caution to the wind."
    Peggy: "Duck's not married."
Peggy's roommate: "Oh. Then why are you with him?"

  • "I got fired. Lane told me Kenny is Senior Something of Something Accounts and I'm not. I'm Accounts Something. I couldn't even hear. All I saw was his frog-like mouth flapping." - Pete Campbell

  • Duck: "Pee Wee, sweetheart, it's been three weeks. We can get room service. I think they have a Monte Cristo sandwich. You love that."
Peggy: "I'm having lunch with Kurt and Smitty."
Duck: "They're a couple of homos. Tell them you have plans."
Peggy: "It's kind of short notice."
Duck: "Come on, Creative. Be creative."

  • "I found out yesterday that Head of Accounts is going to Kenny and his haircut." - Pete

  • Trudy: "Have you been drinking?"
    Pete: "The whole country's drinking."

  • Roger: "I need you out there. I'm about to give my toast."
Jane: "I've heard your toast a million times. The president is dead. And I'll tell you something else: our table has no one at it."
    Roger: "I consolidated the tables!"

  • [Betty witnesses Ruby's assassination of Oswald on live TV]:
Betty: "Oh my God! Oh my God!"
    Don: "What happened?"
Betty: "They shot him! The police were walking him through the building and some man ran up and shot him."
    Don: "What?"
Betty: " WHAT IS GOING ON?!"

MAD MOMENTS Joan Holloway and Pete Campbell
MAD MEN REVELATIONS, SHOCKERS, DELIGHTS, & DECIDEDLY UN-PC ACTIVITIES

  • In the wake of losing out to Ken, Pete reconsiders taking Duck up on his offer to join Grey.

  • Peggy is still involved with Duck. Just before she arrives at his hotel room, he catches a glimpse of news of the Kennedy assassination, but quickly turns off the TV so as to not let anything interfere with their tryst.

  • Roger Sterling's daughter Margaret's wedding goes on as planned despite the assassination of JFK, the day before -- but fewer than half the invited guests actually show.

  • After surviving his daughter's fiasco of a wedding and putting his drunk wife to bed, an exhausted and depleted Roger calls Joan for comfort.

  • Overwhelmed by all the traumatic news, Betty goes to see Henry. He asks her to marry him.
