If I could work in any TV office, I think it would be the writer's room at 30 Rock! Places like Dunder Mifflin would just get downright irritating. I love watching Dwight and Micheal on the screen, but in real life, I'd probably go postal.

Ha! If you haven't read this yet, check out Green-Arrow's latest entry on our Mad Men Blog:
http://www.madmenshow.com/page/Mad+Men+Blog So, the John Deere Massacre of 1963 *wasn't* an odd bit of product placement. I honestly thought they approved it! BTW, the warning label is brilliant and I'm seriously thinking about printing a few of them on some sticker sheets and putting them on our lawn mower.

I see him as a moderate Republican, kind of a Joe Scarborough type, disgusted with the right wing fringe as well as the "hippie liberal" left fringe. He may be apolitical.
He finally learns to be true to one woman, but she is 26 and wants kids. He is a grandfather, better at that role than fatherhood. He and Sally are finally speaking. She is still in therapy. Betty dies of lung cancer, and he is sad, but the years have built another kind of wall between them. Don quit smoking years ago and took up swimming and tennis, mostly because the sports advertising accounts, created through the cultivation of associations through membership at an elite health club have saved him financially as well as socially. His son perished years ago, when his sports car crashed into the Lincoln Tunnel, after a night of fraternity party inbibing. It changed Don dramaticaly, but hardened Betty immeasurably. That is my vision of Dod Draper, 2011. Hurry up, March!!! |

ThisWeekIn Network is proud to present the debut of our new series, "This Week in Mad Men," discussing all the goings-on in Season 4 with our panel of "Mad Men" aficionados and experts. See it here:
http://thisweekin.com/madmen Our first episode dealt with the Season 4 premiere, as well as our predictions for the rest of the season, our Don Draper-style slogan pitches and, of course, copious amounts of drinking. Topics discussed include: - Who is Don Draper? Don started the series all effortless cool, a guy who had it all - the envy of all men and irresistible to women. He's pretty much the complete opposite now. Awkward, volatile, depressed (and depressing). It's hard to imagine first-season Don wanting a woman to slap him in bed, or awkwardly moving in for a kiss on a first date, or misfiring during an interview so badly that his attempt to be humble and gracious makes him look "like a prick." It's like he's back to being Dick Whitman and has to start the transformation into Don Draper all over again, from scratch. The episode ends with him basically deciding to fake it, to try to be the old Don Draper even if he knows he hasn't got it any more and can't just slip into the character effortlessly like he once did. There was a twinge of desperation to the act, particularly how he felt the need to add in the lie about having a second story. Maybe Betty and his relationship with her, and his family, was more integral to the Draper persona than he realized? - Peggy and the Ham - Betty's marriage to Henry...will it last? - Where's the rest of Team Sterling Cooper? - The Use of "Tobacco Road" Hosts include Lon Harris, Jacob Burch, Jaime Fox and Jason McIntyre. |

US President John F. Kennedy established many fashion trends,
along with his wife Jackie, as we are reminded of in this fabulous TV series Mad Men. Arguably, no president, or presidental couple has before or since, influenced to that degree. The producers have gone to great lengths and dilligence in bringing forth that atmosphere. It was a very dynamic period in history. Among the many things Kennedy is famous for, is NOT wearing a hat. I had heard that at the time, he caused quite a stir. And of course the mens fashion industry, particularly hat manufacturers didn't like that. Consperacy theorest, can run with that one. |

Maybe it's just me, but it seemed obvious that Don was hitting on Sally's teacher, who might be a bit of a flake but isn't exactly "unhinged."

Interesting that the actor doesn't seem to know Sal's fate. That would suggest that we won't see Sal again this season, since they've already finished filming.

Doesn't John McCain look just like Betty's dad?
I have a hard time looking at the photo of them together and not imaging them having an uncomfortable discussion of his funeral arrangements.

Wow. I don't know if I'm more disturbed by the fact that this ad existed at all, or by the fact that the wife in the photo appears to be enjoying herself...
Somehow I don't think Draper would have OK'd this ad for publication. But he might very well have taken it home and posted in on the fridge.

Stopping the British incursion? They still own the company. ("We took their money. We have to do what they say.") Lane is still there. Is he preferable to that young accounts prodigy? Only slightly. We still have Moneypenny anyway for the creep factor. I laughed my ass off when his foot got run over.
