Hello everybody, i was wondering that it could be great if for the last episode of MM, the singer Lana Del Ray could sing her song: Million dollar man; she will be on their restaurant and started to sing, the last minute of the episode. Seeing Don Draper, talking, laughing and smoking with his friends. Obviously something will happen. i love this song and everytime that i listen to it, i can't help saying, that it will be perfect to introduce it in the last episode of the season. Morever Lana Del Rey style matches to the atmosphere of the time.

it was really sad when Lane hanged himself. He really wasn't taken seriously. Is it just me or was Betty Draper hardly in season 5?

Questions about things characters say in the episodes...

Hi. I am new to this forum and old to Mad Men. I have watched all episodes a few times over again. A show like this really draws you in, as we all know, and the dialogue is genius and often symbolic, parallel and deep. I could go on and on...anyways, my questions are about a few lines throughout the series. I'm going to list them and if anyone could help me understand what they mean that would be great.
Joan says to Peggy about her ad that she posts for finding a room mate: "It reads like the stage directions to and Ibsun play..." (what does she mean by Ibsun play and why is Peggy's ad like that to Joan?)
Pete says about Horace to Don in 'The Arrangements': I spent two years at Dartmouth hiding him from shylocks. Let me enjoy my payday. (what does Pete mean by 'hiding him'...)
questions about other stuff....
In the hospital scene of The Fog, when Don returns to the hospital to visit Betty after baby Gene in born, he runs into the same guy from the waiting room a day ago. Don and the guy, a prison guard by profession, got very friendly in the waiting room but when they pass again, Don smiles and the guy ignores him. why? Is it a class thing? Or did he not recognize Don because he is a 'suit' maybe to him?
In 'The Long Weekend', the scene where Joan and her roomie are with those two gentlemen...it seemed almost like they were being paid for their services. In a more recent episode, Jane says to Rodger, "isn't Joan a 'professional 'something" in a sarcastic way. What do you think?
One more question..I've heard discussion on another site that Sally was possible molested before she starts having all those problems. What are your thoughts on that?
Thanks guys!

Last night's episode and Pinter's The Homecoming

So did anyone else think that last night's episde was totally referencing Pinter's The Homecoming? The play opened on Broadway in January 1967, which is just about when it seems that the episode took place.
The last line of the episode was right from the play. It's the final line of Ruth, the play's only female character (except that the line in the play includes her husband's name, "Don't be a stranger, Teddy").
"Don't be a stranger, Teddy" is what Ruth says to her husband as he's leaving to go back to their California home while she's staying in London with his family, who are going to set her up in her own place as a high-priced prostitute. And as we see in the final moments of the play, she seems to have the power over the family's patriarch, who's groveling for his share of her favors while she looks down on him, much as Peggy was looking down on Don last night.
I'm pretty sure that it was an intentional reference given the series's history of theatre references and that the episode seems to have been taking place in early 1967. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Matthew Weiner and Elizabeth Moss talked about Peggy having seen the play and knowing exactly where she was getting the line from. I even wonder if in some upcoming episode, Megan's going to be auditioning to be a replacement for Ruth. Unlikely but possible.
And if you know The Homecoming, there were parallels throughout the episode, though it was only with that last line that I thought of The Homecoming.

Don is all smiley in flashback scenes with Anna or in the scenes where Sterling first meets him, but from episode one in "present day," he's the dark philanderer we know and sometimes love. I confess I have not seen every episode of all four seasons, so my question is this: Have there been any episodes that explain his transformation from smiley guy to dark brooder? Thanks--

Well, i'm assuming when we last saw him when he was on the phone and you see all of those bikers he was in the villiage which i heard was a lil rough area back in the day but i dont know a lot about new york and i am pretty sure skid row wasnt created yet. SO anyway maybe he'll be in rehab and Lets assume Don comes and offers him a job on Jaguar, because lets be honest he was a BOSS at art. Hope you enjoy the reply!

I'd love to hear your takes on two still shots in The Mystery Date. FIrst, Sally asleep under the couch knocked out from Seconal. I wonder how long it takes Betty to find her. It was such an odd image to me. Characteristic of Matt Weiner but really striking. My first logical thought was: 'that doesn't make sense; how in the world would she end up falling asleep under the couch? ' She would have had to been put under there or put herself under there. What do you think?
I get that it's mirroring the one nurse who escaped Richard Speck by hiding under the bed. Did Sally go under the couch because she was so frightened by the story?
And second, what do you make of the last scene of Joan, baby and her mother very stylistically positioned on the bed where we see them from above. I didn't understand that and Matt Weiner doesn't do anything unintentionally.
Thanks.

I find this season to be rather strange, understanding that the enviroment and individual circumstances have changed. My fear is that over the hiatus, the show lost it's momentum, and the stories have become dis-jointed, and rather banal.
